Wynema’s Way

Wynema’s Way — An Unforgettable Celebration

Tuesday June 30th 2026 was an unforgettable moment for our community. As we gathered to unveil Wynema’s Way, we didn’t just honor a woman — we honored the God who has worked through her for decades with compassion, steadiness, humility, and love.

We saw Matthew 25 lived out right in front of us. Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave Me food.” And yesterday, we celebrated someone who has spent her life serving Him in every neighbor who walked through the doors of The Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs.

The turnout was incredible — churches, partners, volunteers, families, civic groups, and neighbors all standing together in unity. But the greatest blessing of all was seeing Wynema herself filled with joy, strength, and a renewed sense of purpose. Her smile said everything. Her spirit was lifted. Her heart was full.

We want to offer our deepest thanks to:

  • The City of Green Cove Springs

  • Challenge Enterprises

  • Our twenty‑six supporting churches

  • Every volunteer

  • Every partner

  • Every neighbor who came to celebrate

Your love honored Wynema in a way she will never forget.

Thank you for helping us honor a woman who has shaped the heart of our mission. May we all continue to walk in The Wynema Way — serving with dignity, compassion, and the love of Christ.

A Note From Our Hearts

As we honor Wynema, we also honor the God who has worked through her — her compassion, her leadership, her steady presence, and her unwavering love for this community. We pray this event becomes a moment of joy, gratitude, and blessing.

“Let your light so shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Our Purpose

Serving Clay County Since 1989

For over three decades, The Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs has provided emergency food to families and individuals in need throughout Clay County. Our shelves are stocked through generous food drives hosted by local organizations, and our mission is sustained by donations from foundations, businesses, and caring individuals in our community.

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization—with no paid staff and over 90 dedicated volunteers—ensuring that every dollar goes directly toward feeding the hungry and making a difference where it matters most.

  • ‘For I was hungry and you gave me food.’

    —Matthew 25:35

This Bible verse sets the foundation for our mission.

Why we need your help.

Clay County is home to thousands of hardworking families who still struggle to put food on the table. Food insecurity here disproportionately affects households where adults are employed but still unable to make ends meet — the working poor, whose schedules leave little room for navigating traditional assistance hours.

Our doors are open every day until 4:00 p.m. But for the parent who clocks out at 4:30 p.m., for the family with only one car that the working adult takes to their job, for the wage earner who starts their shift before sunrise… our current schedule simply doesn’t reach them. These families exist, they are hungry, and they are not being served.

We see the gap. We feel the urgency. And we believe our community can rise to meet it.

Our goal is to expand access — offering working families an extended schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. so transportation challenges and late work hours are no longer barriers to receiving groceries.

With your help — through donations, volunteering, or even sharing our story — we can double our impact. We can turn scarcity into consistency. We can build a Food Pantry that reflects the heart of Green Cove Springs and Clay County: generous, faithful, and always ready to serve.

Make an
impact today

When you give to The Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs, you’re doing more than meeting a need—you’re extending love.

Your generosity becomes nourishment for a child starting their school day, comfort for a senior stretching a fixed income, and hope for a neighbor facing the unexpected. Every dollar you share helps us place food directly into the hands of those who need it most—right here in Clay County.

Because we’re entirely volunteer-run, your gift doesn’t pass through layers—it goes straight to the shelves, the bags, and the hearts of the people we serve. You remind them they’re not forgotten. You remind them they’re not alone.

3% Cover the Fee

We are grateful for our partnership with Waste Not Want Not, whose weekly donations of rescued food help us feed families across Clay County. Together, we’re reducing waste, strengthening our community, and making sure good food reaches the neighbors who need it most.

Matthew 25:35

The Heart of Our Mission

In Matthew 25:35, Jesus says, “For I was hungry and you gave Me food.”

He does not say “they were hungry”, He says “I was hungry”.

Jesus intentionally places Himself in the very person who is in need.

He is telling us that when we serve someone who is hungry, thirsty, or struggling, we are meeting Him in that moment.

And just a few verses later, in Matthew 25:40, He says,

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.”

Not “you helped them.”, But “you did it for Me.”

This is the foundation of our ministry.

And this is what we mean when we talk about The Wynema Way — treating every person with the love, dignity, and compassion we would offer to Christ Himself.
